tip tuesday
I recently started using a diluted form of pure Australian Tea Tree Oil infused with lavender, and I have got to tell you all about it! What it does:
Lavender soothes and heals irritated skin (as well as gives the strong scented oil a lighter smell), while the tea tree oil is a disinfectant and healer as well. A big Plus: It reduces the size of pores!
How to use:
In a small travel-size spray bottle - typically 3 oz. - add 5 drops of the oil and spray it on your face, makeup brushes, pillow, ect.
*Do not apply pure oil directly onto face. It is extremely concentrated!*
Important Tip:
Something I have been asked lately is, "How do I get rid of acne?". Well folks, speaking from experience, it takes identifying what triggers a breakout. I never had acne until I turned 23, and only in the past few months has my skin truly cleared up. Having a professional set of brushes, I ALWAYS clean those for work...but I was not cleaning my personal makeup brushes regularly. Keep them stored in a container or closet, and away from your toilet!
Did you know...?
1. Makeup brushes hold as much bacteria as a toilet bowl. They can also cause Staff Infection and E. Coli if not cleaned and disinfected at least once a week! Gross.
2. Your pillow cases and sheets can also house acne causing bacteria. Keep them clean!
3. Using your Tea Tree Oil spray on makeup and makeup brushes is better than using straight alcohol on your skin, as alcohol dries out your skin.
4. Tea Tree Oil is known as a 'friendly oil' for acne prone and oily skin.
There are Five Skin Types: Which one are you?
1. Normal Skin: If you skin belongs to a normal type, the tissue will not reveal any traces of oil. Your skin should feel vibrant, elastic, and supple. Normal skin is the least problematic type.
2. Dry Skin: Dry Skin can easily develop a sallow tone, wrinkles, and fine pores, and it is very prone to aging and irritating. Using quality skincare and masques will help.
3. Oily Skin: Oily skin is problematic - it usually looks greasy, thick, coarse, and shiny, has enlarged pores, and tends to break into acne A good thing, though, is that oily skin is not prone much to aging and wrinkling. Careful cleaning, minimizing of carbohydrate consumption, and avoiding rich creams can be helpful in improving the quality of oily skin.
4. Combination Skin: If you skin is combination, like that of most women, the tissue will have traces of oil coming from your nose and forehead, but will be clean in the areas that touched your cheeks.
Combination skin has patches of both dry and oily skin, and it requires different types of care in relation to particular facial areas. Dry zones, which are usually located on the cheeks and around the eyes, should be treated with rich creams and moisturizers, while oily areas, usually on the forehead and nose, will benefit from frequent and thorough cleaning.
5. Sensitive Skin: Sensitive skin is usually very dry, tends to feel tight, and becomes inflamed and irritated easily. Typically, sensitive skin develops reddish and scaly areas, can be itchy and tingly, and is prone to breaking into spots. It is the most problematic and fragile type of skin, which needs a very special type of care. To get the right products for this skin type too, requires great research.
I hope you all enjoyed this Tip Tuesday on the benefits of Tea Tree Oil and Skincare!
