Happy HumpDay! Who doesn't need a good pick-me-up and feel-good-look for the most boring day of the week? I know you all have been requesting video tutorials, and this was going to be the first! I am getting a new camera this weekend. Sigh. Anyway! Moving on...
Here is my tutorial on the real trick to mastering a slinky cateye vintage look...using affordable products from Target and/or Sephora
Start with a good base. I have been using these Pixi products and feel super confident about them: Flawless & Poreless and Line Serum. This line of cosmetics is hypoallergenic, made with natural botanicals, and is friendly for all skin types!
p.s. put a lip treatment on prior to makeup to get your lips super smooth and hydrated for when you are ready to put on your lip color.
Using two shades of foundation, shade with the dark and highlight with the light. I used Revlon Photoready Airbrush...a FANTASTIC knockoff of Dior Airflash makeup.
Add a soft pink blush to the apples of your cheeks. With your eyes and lips being so dramatic in the end, your cheeks should be soft in color. We don't want to look like we have a fever.
This is the most important part of the look -Using a liquid liner, this is NYC in Black- Every person has different eyes; in shape/size of lid and eyeball, the tilt of the eye, and so on. So to get YOUR perfect cat eye, use an angled brush and make a line extending from the outer corner of your eye. (Experiment with the angle of how high your corner will go up)
Next, take your brush and dab a little liquid liner on it. Find the center of your upper lash line and drag the brush along towards the outer corner and meet this line with your first line (upper left image). Now, fill in the spaces with liner and take whats left on your brush 3/4 on your lower lash line...connecting the lower lid line to the upper. Viola! Its perfect!
People ask me what I do differently to my eyes and this is it! It's one of my favorite secrets. Navy blue makes EVERY color eye really pop, also, it makes the whites of your eyes even whiter. I really like waterproof CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus in Midnight Blue.
Take the liner and apply it on the upper waterline, pressing into your lashes to create a fuller look for mascara.
To prove this: See the above images and now this below...(and this is without mascara!)
As you can see, my left eye looks legit. L'Oreal Power Volume with Collagen really works, folks.
I am a huge fan of color pops on eyes, but, since we will be wearing a loud lip color, I went with gold. This is Maybelline 24 hr Color Tattoo in 'Gold Rush'. Use a flat small brush to draw along the lower lid, and on the lower side of the line extending from your eye.
Add your lip color - I used Kate Moss by Rimmel 'Kiss of Life' in matte.
I hope you enjoyed! And next tutorial (and those following) will be videos. Much easier and personal in my opinion.
xo- Steph
